Diş Hekimliği Öğrencileri, Uzmanlık Öğrencileri, Diş Hekimleri ve Uzman Diş Hekimlerinin Panoramik Radyografideki Anatomik Landmark ve Yumuşak Doku Kalsifikasyon Bilgi Seviyesinin Değerlendirilmesi: Anket Çalışması

GİRİŞ ve AMAÇ: Çalışmanın amacı diş hekimliği öğrencileri, uzmanlık öğrencileri, diş hekimleri ve uzman diş hekimlerinin panoramik radyografide izlenen anatomik yapılar ve yumuşak doku kalsifikasyonları ile ilgili bilgi düzeyini değerlendirmektir.
YÖNTEM ve GEREÇLER: 248 kişinin katıldığı anket çalışmasında, eğitim durumları birbirinden farklı katılımcılara panoramik radyografilerde 31 anatomik landmark ve 5 yumuşak doku kalsifikasyonu soruldu. Doğru yanıt sayısının cinsiyete göre karşılaştırılmasında Mann Whitney U testi; yaş grubu, öğrenim durumu, çalışılan kurum ve mesleki tecrübe yılına göre karşılaştırılmasında ise Kruskal Wallis testi kullanıldı.
BULGULAR: 248 katılımcının 182’si kadın, 66’sı erkekti. Katılımcıların anatomik landmark sorularına doğru yanıt oranı 0.68±0.15, yumuşak doku kalsifikasyonlarıyla ilgili sorulara doğru yanıt oranı ise 0.48±0.24’dü. 5. sınıf diş hekimliği öğrencileri ortalama olarak en fazla sayıda doğru yanıt verirken, diş hekimleri en az sayıda doğru yanıt verdi ve gruplar arasında istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı farklılık vardı (p<000,1).
TARTIŞMA ve SONUÇ: Yumuşak doku kalsifikasyonu bilinme oranı anatomik landmarklara göre daha düşüktü. Panoramik radyografi değerlendirilirken sadece dental şikayete odaklanılmayıp, görüntüleme alanına giren tüm yapıları değerlendirmek bu sayede olası patolojileri kaçırmamak önemlidir.
Evaluation of the Level of Knowledge of Anatomical Landmarks and Soft Tissue Calcification in Panoramic Radiography of Dental Students, Speciality Students, Dentists and Specialist Dentists: A Questionnaire Study

INTRODUCTION: The aim of the study to evaluate the knowledge level of undergraduate students, postgraduate students, dentists and specialist dentists about anatomical landmarks and soft tissue calcifications observed on panoramic radiographs.
METHODS: Participants with different educational statuses were asked about 31 anatomical landmarks and 5 soft tissue calcifications on panoramic radiographs, in a questionnaire study. The Mann-Whitney U test was used to compare the number of correct answers between gender, and the Kruskal Wallis test was used to compare according to age group, education status, institution and years of professional experience.
RESULTS: 248 of the participants, 182 were female and 66 were male. The correct answer rate to the anatomical landmark questions was 0.68±0.15, and the correct answer rate to the questions about soft tissue calcifications was 0.48±0.24. The mean number of correct answers was highest in senior dentistry students and least in dentists, and there was a statistically significant difference between the groups (p<000.1).
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: Soft tissue calcification recognition rate was lower than anatomical landmarks. When evaluating panoramic radiography, it is important not to focus only on the dental complaint, but to evaluate all structures that fall into the imaging field, so that possible pathologies are not missed.
