Diş Hekimlerinin Uzmanlık/Doktora Eğitimine Katılma Motivasyonları ve Eğitimleri Sonunda Gelecek Hedeflerinin Değerlendirilmesi

GİRİŞ ve AMAÇ: Bu çalışmanın amacı, uzmanlık/doktora yapmakta olan diş hekimlerinin uzmanlık/doktora eğitimine katılma motivasyonlarını etkileyen faktörleri ve eğitimlerinin sonunda gelecek hedeflerini değerlendirmektir.
YÖNTEM ve GEREÇLER: Bu çalışmanın verileri, 23 sorudan oluşan anketin farklı illerde bulunan 101 doktora/uzmanlık öğrencisinin kendileri tarafından yanıtlanmasıyla elde edilmiştir. İstatistiksel analiz için Ki-kare analizi, Fisher’s Exact testi ve Pearson Ki-kare analizi kullanılmıştır (p=0,05).
BULGULAR: Prestij ve unvan sahibi olmak (%43,56) ile akademik alanda ilerlemek (%39,6), bu eğitim programlarına başvurmak için başlıca sebeplerdir. Akademik alanla ilerlemek için doktora/uzmanlık eğitimine başvurduğunu belirten 40 kişiden yalnızca 24 kişi eğitim programları bittiğinde üniversitede çalışmak istediklerini belirtmiştir (p<0,05). Katılımcıların çoğu; uzmanlık/doktora programına katılmadan önceki gelecek planlarının eğitimleri sırasında değiştiğini (%56,44), sağlıkta şiddet haberlerinin gelecekteki mesleki hedeflerini engellediğini düşündüğünü (%64,36) ve eğitimlerinin bitiminde özel sektörde çalışmak istediklerini (%71,29) belirtmişlerdir (p>0,05).
TARTIŞMA ve SONUÇ: Akademisyenliğin pek tercih edilmemesi nedeniyle, ileride diş hekimliği temel eğitiminin, özellikle yakın zamanda açılan fakültelerde, sekteye uğrayabileceği düşünülmektedir.
Evaluation of Motivation of Dentists to Participate in Residency/Doctoral Education and Future Goals at the End of Their Education

INTRODUCTION: The purpose of the this study was to evaluate of factors the motivation of dentists to participate in specialization/Phd education and future goals at the end of their education.
METHODS: The data of this study were obtained by answering a questionnaire consisting of 23 questions by 101 doctoral/specialty students from different cities themselves. Chi-square analysis, Fisher's Exact test and Pearson Chi-square analysis were used for statistical analysis.
RESULTS: Prestige and title (43.56%) and academic advancement (39.6%) are the main reasons for applying to these training programs. Out of 40 people who stated that they applied for doctorate/specialty education to advance in the academic field, only 24 people stated that they wanted to work at the university when their education programs were completed (p<0.05). Most of the participants stated that their future plans before participating in the specialty/doctorate program changed during their education (56.44%), the news of violence in health prevented their future professional goals (64.36%), want to work in the private clinics (71.29%) when the education finishes (p>0.05).
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: Due to the fact that academics is not preferred much, it is thought that the basic education of dentistry may be interrupted in the future, especially in faculties that have been opened recently.
