Endodontik Aðrý Yönetiminde Kriyoterapi

Diþ hekimliðinde hem hasta hem de hekim açýsýndan aðrý yönetimi büyük önem taþýmaktadýr. Yapýlan çalýþmalar, endodontik iþlemlerden sonra görülen postoperatif aðrýnýn diðer dental tedavilere kýyasla daha yüksek olduðunu göstermiþtir. Bu aðrýnýn önlenmesi veya azaltýlmasý için ise farmakolojik ve non-farmakolojik birçok yöntem önerilmektedir. Kriyoterapi, ucuz, pratik ve atoksik bir prosedür olmasýyla öne çýkan non-farmakolojik yöntemlerden biridir. "Soðuk terapi" olarak da bilinen kriyoterapinin, kas-iskelet sistemi aðrýlarý, kas spazmlarý, enflamasyon ve sinir iletkenliðini azalttýðý bilinmektedir. Son yýllarda kriyoterapinin endodontik tedavi sonrasý aðrý yönetimindeki rolü de araþtýrýlmaya baþlanmýþtýr. Ancak kriyoterapinin endodontideki rolü kapsamlý olarak belgelenmemiþtir ve bu tedavi için ideal bir protokol belirlemek amacýyla kullanýlan ajanýn türü, hacmi, uygulama þekli ve süresi konusunda bir standardizasyon oluþturulamamýþtýr. Bu derlemede; randomize kontrollü klinik çalýþmalarda kullanýlan kriyoajanýn türüne, uygulama yöntemine ve süresine göre postoperatif aðrý üzerindeki etkisini deðerlendirmek amaçlanmýþtýr. Yapýlan çalýþmalar deðerlendirildiðinde, kriytoterapi endodontik tedavi sonrasý aðrýyý önlemede veya azaltmada umut vadeden bir yöntem olduðu sonucuna varýlmýþtýr.

Cryotherapy in Endodontic Pain Management

Pain management is of great importance in dentistry, both for the patient and the clinician. Studies have shown that postoperative pain after endodontic procedures is higher than after other dental treatments. Many pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods have been proposed to prevent or reduce this pain. Cryotherapy is one of the non-pharmacological methods that stands out because it is low cost, practical and non-toxic. Known as 'cold therapy', cryotherapy is known to reduce musculoskeletal pain, muscle spasms, inflammation and nerve conduction. In recent years, the role of cryotherapy in postoperative pain management following endodontic treatment has also begun to be investigated. However, the role of cryotherapy in endodontics has not been comprehensively documented and there is no standardisation of the type, volume, method of application and duration of the agent used to determine an ideal protocol for this treatment. The aim of this literature review is to evaluate the effect of the type, application method and duration of cryogenic agent used in randomised controlled clinical trials on postoperative pain.
